Mesoamerican royalty and nobility sat upon hand woven floor seats, made of natural fibers and covered with animal pelts and believed that whomever sat on the throne would inherit the strength from the animal’s pelt.
For the collection, Claroscuro seat is a place for female strength. Its textiles represent Coatlicue’s snake skin and the wooden seat is a reinterpretation of the traditional throne, filtered through a feminine lens.
