Juan José Nemer is an award-winning industrial designer and founder of furniture and interior design studio AD HOC. He works in conjunction with his partner, architect Mauricio Álvarez.

The duo seeks perfection in detail through design, saying “We believe in the natural beauty of materials, which is why we dedicate ourselves to designing spaces and creating pieces that reflect the great artisan legacy that exists in the country, highlighting the materials and revaluing the manual process and personalized detail in each of our products.”

Winners of two AD design icon awards (2019 and 2021) and named “Rising American Talents” by Maison&Objet in its second Americas edition, they have participated in international fairs such as Zona Maco México, The Salon NY, Art Basel in Miami USA, Basel Switzerland, PAD London, and Miart Milan. Their work is represented across the U.S., Mexico, and Europe.

Born in Toluca, Mexico, Nemer earned his degree in Industrial Design from Universidad Iberoameriana and a diploma in Product Design from the Istituto Europeo de Design in Madrid, Spain. Álvarez earned a degree in Architecture from Universidad Iberoameriana and studied architecture at NYU in New York.
